Gondola Services
Scope
A gondola is the working platform on a building facade. We handle it from calculation and supply right through to installation, and once it is handed over to the project it can be used for installation, repair, maintenance and cleaning alike.
-
Design & calculation
Taking the building's height, form, roof structure and parapet positions into account, we calculate the gondola's load capacity, suspension points and travel path, and submit the calculation for the client and consultant to review.
-
Supply
We provide the gondola, tracks, jibs and safety devices, with quantities planned around the size and programme of the project. Every component is inspected before it reaches site, and the records are kept.
-
Installation
We install the track and suspension system on the roof or at the designated positions, testing and signing off each item before it goes into use, and follow through with inspection and repair thereafter.
Applications
Once delivered, the gondola stays with the project as day-to-day access to the facade — from the construction stage right through to upkeep after the building is occupied.
-
Installation
On-site installation of facade components, aluminium panels and finishes.
-
Repair
Inspection and repair of damaged, loose or leaking areas.
-
Maintenance
Periodic checks on gaskets, hardware and surface condition.
-
Cleaning
Facade washing, stain removal and surface care.
Coverage
Gondolas are not used on glass curtain walls alone. Tiled, marble, painted and other facade finishes can be built and maintained from a gondola just as well — wherever the facade needs someone to reach it, the gondola is the most direct route.
- glass curtain walls
- aluminium and metal cladding
- tiled finishes
- marble finishes
- painted and rendered facades
Safety
A gondola carries people and materials, so its safety requirements match any other high-risk operation: the calculations must be signed, the equipment must be inspected, and it must be checked before use every day. All records are kept and open to review.
- Calculations Suspension and load calculations reviewed by the consultant.
- Periodic inspection Gondolas, wire ropes and safety devices inspected on schedule.
- Qualified personnel Installation, operation and inspection carried out by trained personnel.
- Daily checks Checked item by item before use, with the records kept.
